Christmas events 2020 still happening around Birmingham
There are plenty of ways to feel festive this year in and around Birmingham and the Black Country.
Many attractions are adapting their Christmas events to adhere to lockdown rules. Government rules say that families can enjoy the festivities as long as they remain within their local area and don't travel into a different tier.
As of December 3, 2020, the following events are going ahead this Christmas. All require advance booking and are subject to change depending on the current government advice. Be sure to check travel restrictions before attending.
Winter Wonderland at Tamworth Snowdome
Father Christmas is bringing his Winter Wonderland back to the SnowDome from December 16. There will be an extended reception area plus a larger theatre for a Covid secure experience.
Expect real snow, real animals and a new winter wonderland show plus a chance to explore Santa’s Christmas snow trail, take a walk through the enchanted forest, enjoy a game of snowballs, hitch a ride on a sledge and have fun sliding about in the snow tubes.

Christmas at Cadbury World
Cadbury World is hoping to put on a pantomime and a chance to see Santa in a special stage show from December 19 to 23.
The Bournville attraction, which is in Tier 3, is currently closed but it plans to offer Christmas festivities, depending on government guidance.

Festive Day Out at Alton Towers
There’s a Festive Day Out planned at Alton Towers, including a selection of outdoor rides and attractions, an illuminated gardens walk and outdoor festive entertainment for people who live in the local area.
This includes a socially-distanced grotto visits where kids will get to see Father Christmas on the veranda of his grotto at the theme park on weekends between December 2 and 16, when the next review of the Covid-19 tiers will take place.

Christmas at Warwick Castle
Historic Warwick Castle, which is in Tier 3, has announced it will reopen the outdoor grounds for people to enjoy Christmas at the Castle from December 5 but is urging guests to follow Government guidance.

Christmas at Magic Alley
This event is carrying on as planned.
Entry into Magic Alley will be staggered to one family group at a time to allow for social distancing this Christmas. The festive experience will take place throughout the 10 rooms of the Enchanted Manor, ending in the Enchanted Forest which becomes covered in snow.
Families will be asked to complete the candy themed quest before they meet Father Christmas and receive a present and candy cane. There will then be time for snowballing in the forest. Runs from December 2 to December 24.

Santa Specials on the Severn Valley Railway
This event is carrying on as planned.
You can catch a Santa Special with the Severn Valley Railway this Christmas. Boarding at the festively decorated Kidderminster Station, you can enjoy a drink and a seasonal sweet treat as you settle down in your own private compartment and steam through the Christmassy stations to Arley. Here you alight for a new Christmas show where you'll hopefully catch a glimpse of Santa before getting back on the train for surprise presents for the kids and a trip back to Kidderminster.

Festive Dining in an Igloo Pod at Aston Hall
You can enjoy a festive three-course dinner in an outdoor igloo pod at Aston Hall this Christmas.
The transparent ‘igloos’ in the north courtyard can seat 2 to 6 diners from the same household/support bubble. The event runs on December 19 and 20.

See Santa's reindeer at Dudley Castle
Dudley Castle and Zoo is offering discounted entrance throughout December where families can get to see Santa's reindeer. Indoor areas will remain closed at the attraction, which is in Tier 3.
Festive Drive-in Cinema at Hatton Adventure World
The Enchanted Christmas Kingdom event is scheduled to go ahead at Hatton Adventure World but with a few changes to ensure it complies with the restrictions. The exact nature of these is yet to be announced but people can register an interest by completing a form and Hatton bosses will send emails as soon as tickets are available.

Festivities at West Midland Safari Park
The traditional Santa Safari has sadly been cancelled at West Midland Safari Park. However, as the Worcestershire attraction is in Tier 2, the park is re-opening on selected dates from December 5 for people to enjoy the drive-through animal section only. Then, from December 12, some of the walk-through areas will be open with some festive theming but not usual Santa grotto.

Parking Lot Social
You can enjoy a giant DJing Santa at The Parking Lot Social, which promises to bring some festive cheer to the city in a 'completely contactless' way, with drive-in cinema screenings, live panto and a chance to see Father Christmas. There will be silent discos, festive quizzes and street food markets set to a 'vast inflatable backdrop' with a 60ft tall rainbow coloured Christmas tree.
It's set to take place at the Ricoh Stadium in Coventry from December 19 to 24 and promises to offer plenty of things to do in a socially distanced way.
Christmas Cracker at the National Forest Adventure Farm
An outdoor family festive extravaganza is planned for the National Forest Adventure Farm in Burton. Running on selected dates in December, the event will feature two 20-minute live Christmas shows which will take place undercover, with families surrounded by fragrant Christmas trees.

Steam in Lights
The Severn Valley Railway is in Tier 2 and so re-opened on December 3 and Christmas events are set to go ahead as planned. Steam in Lights is back by popular demand following its debut in 2019. Severn Valley Railway staff dress a steam train in thousands of colourful lights as you travel in a private compartment from Bridgnorth Station. Look out for the mystical Cacklers hiding along the way as your train steams out into the darkness. Kids are encouraged to help illuminate the way, transforming stations into glittering displays and trackside landscapes into winter wonderlands.
Trains run three times each evening of December 8-12, 15-19, 22 and 23.

Christmas Spectacular at Twycross Zoo
This event is continuing as planned. Join Mrs Claus in her kitchen for a festive feast before venturing deep into the North Pole with the elves. Look out for the Ice Queen in her Ice Castle as she casts an icy spell across the land and stop by the workshop and help get the reindeer’s food ready all before joining Santa in North Pole Plaza with our troupe of elves for story-time, meet and greets and more.
Runs from on December 12 ,13, 19, 20, 12, 22, 23 and 24.
Zoom with Santa at Sea Life Centre Birmingham
Sea Life Centre is offering a way for kids to meet Santa on-screen from their homes. There will also be a chance to say hello to his penguins and meet Binky Tinselsmith, Santa’s elf helper. You can dial in with your whole family and then look forward to a gift from Father Christmas.Runs from December 5 to 24.
