Geneva Motor Show 2019 Sneak Peek!
This year’s Geneva Motor Show starts tomorrow, and we can expect a number of impressive and innovative creations to be revealed by manufacturers.
The Geneva Motor Show is one of the two biggest automotive exhibitions in Europe and has been running for more than 100 years. Typically, vehicle makers put their futuristic concept cars and rare hypercars on display for petrol heads to ogle at, and this year, the line-up is set to include some breath-taking designs. Here are some that we’re excited about.
Hypercars
It is likely that we will be treated to a glimpse of the Aston Martin ‘Son of Valkyrie’ hypercar, as well as the extremely exclusive Bugatti Chiron Sport 110th anniversary edition, and the Pininfarina Battista, which claims to be “the most powerful Italian performance car ever”.
Supercars
The fierce Ferrari F8 Tributo and the updated Huracán Evo Spyder will both be making an appearance at the Geneva Motor Show, along with a new, 200mph supercar from British manufacturer, Ginetta. The name and price of the model are due to be revealed at the event.
New Cars
Other new cars to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show include a Centenary model from Bentley, alongside the brand’s new Bentayga Speed, a second model from Volkswagen’s new performance brand, Polestar, and a Mark Zero electric sports car from Swiss manufacturer, Piëch.
The new Renault Clio, new Peugeot 208, new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake and new SUVs from Mazda, Skoda and Ssangyong are also expected to be at the show. Volkswagen will also be showing off a V8 TDi version of the Touareg, which will soon be the most powerful VW car on sale.
Concepts
There is an environmentally-friendly theme to the concepts being revealed at the show, with electric SUV concepts from Lagonda, Mitsubishi and Audi, an electric crossover-coupé, an electric sports car from Kia, and one of the first electric large people carriers from Mercedes-Benz.
We will also be seeing the Honda Urban EV, the Volkswagen ID Buggy, the tiny SEAT Minimó, and the Smart Forease+. Perhaps the most intriguing urban EV concept will be the boxy Citroën Ami One, which is designed for car sharers and may not even require the driver to possess a licence!
