Vauxhall Insignia review
If you’re looking to buck the SUV trend and pick up a saloon, a used Vauxhall Insignia may be the perfect car for you. Read our review below to find out!
The market for big, practical saloon cars is shrinking. As more and more people flock to SUVs, many of the Insignia’s rivals are vanishing; leaving the big Vauxhall with few direct competitors. For those still looking for a saloon then, the Insignia offers a stylish family hatch with plenty of kit, superb ride comfort and an attractive price tag.
Vauxhall offer the Insignia in a number of body styles to appeal to a wide range of buyers, from the rugged Country Tourer to the alluring Grand Sport. Regardless of the model, each car is a capable cruiser that copes very well with family life. For those who’re fond of powerful saloons, there’s also a VXR model available with 321bhp and a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds.
Once you’ve chosen your body style, the next challenge is your desired trim. There are eight to choose from, the entry-level Design models come with DAB radio, Bluetooth, cruise control, electrically adjustable driver's seat and automatic lights. The range-topping Elite models get the addition of climate control, folding mirrors, electrically adjustable front seats and leather upholstery.
Higher-end trim levels also come with a touchpad selector mounted on the centre console, immediately behind the gearstick, as well as an LCD-style multi-function speedometer that can be set to display a variety of information in several styles, all programmable by new steering wheel controls. In the front, leg and headroom are plentiful and there are widely adjustable seats and a good range of reach/rake adjustment for the steering wheel.
