Volkswagen Golf Match Review
If you are considering choosing one of our used Volkswagen Golf Match cars for your next motor, read our review below!
Volkswagen Golf cars have been a common sight on our roads for decades. This dependable German hatchback has many devoted fans, thanks to its reliability and outstanding build quality.
The Volkswagen Golf Match sits above the base model in the line-up. For the slightly higher price, you get automatic lights and wipers, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, USB and iPod connectors, a digital radio, a trip computer, alloy wheels and more storage areas. An impressive list of kit that puts many of its competitors to shame!
The Match is available with a choice of three engines, a 1.4 petrol option producing 120bhp that offers good performance and economy, a 1.6 diesel pushing 103bhp and topping the range is a 2.0-litre diesel block with 138bhp! These two diesel engines are available with Volkswagen’s BlueMotion Technology and a series of extras that aim to increase fuel efficiency, including engine stop-start, gearshift indicator and battery recharging when braking.
The cabin of the Volkswagen Golf Match is a lovely place to sit, comfy seats keep you locked in through testing corners and offer plenty of adjustment options too. The centre console features a large touchscreen display to control everything from the radio to driving modes. Thankfully, heater controls are giving physical controls to save you poking through endless submenus to turn the air con on!
In the back, passengers have ample leg room, making long journeys with 5 adults perfectly comfortable. Move further back still and you’ll find a surprisingly large boot that will swallow prams, shopping and anything else you can throw into it!
The Volkswagen Golf comes with a great level of standard kit even in S trim, however the Match edition costs just over £1,000 more, if you are buying brand new, and includes a huge amount of standard kit. Used Volkswagen Golf Match cars are even more of a bargain! Trim levels above this focus more on aesthetic upgrades and while worthwhile, you’d never feel short-changed with the Golf Match.
